En la Baja Cerdaña, cerca de Martinet, se encuentra un balneario conocido como Balneario de la Font del Ferro, que gozó de cierta fama en el pasado. En este paisaje, durante la posguerra, Hércules Poirot, el famoso detective inmortalizado por Agatha Christie, debe descubrir un caso de asesinatos y negocios sucios. Poirot es sutil, pero cuenta con la ayuda de la señorita Puig, quien es aún más sutil que él. Jaume Fuster (Barcelona, 1945-1998) fue un escritor, guionista y traductor. Entre sus novelas destacan 'De mica en mica s'omple la pica', 'Tarda, sessió contínua, 3,45', 'La guàrdia del rei', 'L'illa de les tres taronges', 'L'anell de ferro', 'El jardí de les palmeres' y 'La mort de Guillem'. Como traductor, fue galardonado con el Premi de Crítica Serra d'Or en 1989 por la traducción de 'Bella del senyor' de Albert Cohen.
