«Les cent millors rondalles populars catalanes» is the anthology of folk tales by Joan Amades and Cónsol Mallofré, published by labutxaca in hardcover.
Joan Amades selected the tales he considered most representative of Catalan oral tradition, gathered in this volume with his plain, accessible language. They are stories that evoke the narratives told by mothers and grandmothers, and that show the variety of themes, characters and settings of Catalonia's folklore. The volume recovers this literary heritage for new readers.
Published on November 5, 2009, it has 304 pages and is written in Catalan.
Due to its simple language, it is suitable for both children and adults who want to rediscover traditional Catalan tales.

Joan Amades i Gelats was a Catalan ethnologist and folklorist. An autodidact, he worked at the historical archive of the city of Barcelona and at the Museum of Industry and Popular Arts of the same city. From 1956 onwards, he collaborated with UNESCO. He was also an important promoter of Esperanto and founded the Federació Esperantista Catalana. Perhaps the most important book in his large bibliography is Costumari Català, the main work for the study of Catalan popular culture.
