«Les fausses confidences» is the comedy by Pierre de Marivaux with commentary by Hubert Curial, published by Hatier in paperback (200 pages, in French).
The comedy shows the stratagem Dubois devises so that Araminte, a wealthy widow, falls in love with Dorante, her administrator and Dubois's former master. With irony and elegance, Marivaux explores how love can overcome social differences and challenge eighteenth-century conventions.
This edition belongs to the Classiques & Cie Lycée collection; it includes the complete text, the thematic study «Théâtre et stratagème» and is designed for the new French baccalauréat.
