«Les prétendants 2007» is the political essay by Alain Duhamel, published by Plon in paperback (226 pages, in French).
Ahead of the 2007 French presidential elections, Duhamel recalls that the president elected for five years will exercise almost monarchical power. Hence each party must present its champion; the author assesses the most logical aspirants, their chances and aptitudes for securing the nomination, embracing subjectivity as part of frankness.
Published in Paris in 2006. Library of Congress: JN2959 .D837 2006, LCCN 2006387712; subjects: presidential candidates in France, 2007 elections, and politics and government since 1995.
For readers interested in French politics and political journalism; useful as a portrait of the landscape before the 2007 elections.
Alain Maurice Jacques Duhamel is a prominent French journalist and political commentator.
