«Les quarantièmes délirants» is the humorous tale by Raymond Devos, published by Le Cherche midi in paperback (195 pages, in French).
The book narrates Max's imaginary journey through a territory on the other side of a desert of mirages, where he meets astonishing characters who are about to board a kind of Noah's ark. With humor, wordplay and a poetic gaze, Raymond Devos reflects on the real world versus the virtual one and on everyday life.
Published in Paris in 2002. The cover reproduces a photograph of Devos on the beach playing the flute; the title also appears as «Les 40èmes délirants».
