«Les soirées du hameau» is the collection of short stories by Nikolai Gogol, published by Gallimard in paperback (288 pages, in French).
From 1831, a young Gogol published these tales in Saint Petersburg under the pseudonym of Panko the Red, a beekeeper, drawing on Ukrainian folklore and his childhood memories. The book, which combines popular humor with fantastic elements, made its author a celebrity and was praised by Pushkin himself.
This 1989 edition belongs to the Folio classique collection and includes the preface and translation by Michel Aucouturier.
A work recommended for lovers of Russian classics, short fiction and folk tales with fantastic touches.
