Brendan Doyle, an expert on the poet Coleridge, agrees to accompany a millionaire on a trip to London in 1810. After becoming trapped in the past, he faces Egyptian sorcerers, secret societies, and gangs of beggars led by a sinister clown, while trying to return to his own time without changing history.
The novel opens the Anubis Gates series and was originally published as The Anubis Gates; in Spanish it is known as Las Puertas de Anubis. It won the Philip K. Dick Award and the Prix Tour-Apollo.
For those seeking a classic of historical fantasy and steampunk with time travel.
