L'esperit del temps is a novel by Martí Domínguez that tells the story of an Austrian doctor who becomes interested in Darwinian theories and decides to apply studies on animal behavior to the progress of the human species. The spirit of the time leads him to put his research at the service of a policy, becoming a mainstay of the theories that underpinned Nazi practices and placing him on the Eastern Front in the war against the Russians. The novel reflects on the most disturbing darknesses of human nature.
