«Leyendas de Madrid» is a collection of legends by Reyes García and Ana María Écija (Ediciones La Libreria, paperback, 192 pages, in Spanish).
A collection of popular Madrid tales passed down by word of mouth, in which local history blends with fantasy. Courtiers, saints, bandits, poets, goblins and monarchs populate narratives that change with each teller; many stem from real events or arise to explain the inexplicable, and together they compose another face of Madrid.
This edition dates from 2001, belongs to the Madrid de Bolsillo collection and is number 6; the work's subtitle is «Mentidero de la Villa».
For a general audience, especially fans of history, popular culture and the legends of Madrid.
