«L'home que estimava els gossos» is a volume of detective stories by Raymond Chandler, published by Editorial Laia in paperback (149 pages, in Catalan).
The book brings together three detective stories that Chandler wrote between 1935 and 1936, when the genre was spreading in magazines such as Black Mask. The stories show the tension, realism and action that later characterize his novels; in fact, Chandler would reuse part of this material in The Big Sleep (La gran dormida).
Published in 1989, it is part of the «El Gran Nus» collection from Editorial Laia; translation by Isabel Clara Simó.
For readers of crime fiction and admirers of Raymond Chandler who want to approach his beginnings in the genre before The Big Sleep.

Raymond Thornton Chandler was an American-British novelist and screenwriter. In 1932, at the age of forty-four, Chandler became a detective fiction writer after losing his job as an oil company executive during the Great Depression. His first short story, "Blackmailers Don't Shoot", was published in 1933 in Black Mask, a pulp magazine. His first novel, The Big Sleep, was published in 1939. In addition to his short stories, Chandler published seven novels during his lifetime. All but Playback have been made into motion pictures, some more than once.
