«Lila» is the contemporary novel by Marilynne Robinson, published by Edicions de 1984 in paperback (304 pages, in Catalan).
After years drifting on the margins of society, Lila takes shelter from the rain in an Iowa church, where she meets the pastor John Ames. Between them a courtship full of doubt begins; she, thirsty for knowledge, wonders why God allows human suffering. The story of an uprooted childhood turned into a spiritual quest.
Finalist for the National Book Award in 2014 and the third novel in the Gilead series. Translated into Catalan by Esther Tallada; published in 2015 in the Mirmanda collection (number 134).
For readers of contemporary literary fiction and reading groups interested in novels with a spiritual undertone.
