«L'île du Monstril» is the children's story by Yvan Pommaux, published by L'Ecole des Loisirs in paperback (40 pages, in French).
Elvire and Léon get into a boat that comes loose from the bank and carries them downstream to the vicinity of Monstril island. The island doesn't seem like a safe place, and the children will have to figure out how to get off it; Poil-gris, the coypu, doesn't think they can manage it.
Published in 2003, it is part of the Mouche collection from l'école des loisirs. The cover indicates it was selected by the French Ministry of National Education.
For children aged 6 to 9 who are learning to read, especially suitable for those starting to read in French.
