«L'illusion comique» is the comedy by Pierre Corneille, published in 2018 by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform (paperback, 134 pages, French).
Pridamant has spent ten years searching for his son Clindor, who fled because of his authoritarianism. The magician Alcandre shows him, through spectres that imitate animated bodies, Clindor's life: he serves in Bordeaux the boastful captain Matamore and courts Isabelle. Pridamant watches these visions in silence in a comedy that mixes magic and illusion.
A work commonly read in French theatre and literature studies, suitable for students and fans of classical theatre.
