«L'inconnu de l'Elysée» is Pierre Péan's biographical essay on Jacques Chirac, published by Fayard in paperback (516 pages, in French).
Twelve interviews granted by Jacques Chirac to Pierre Péan during the last half of 2006 shape this dialogue-based portrait. Péan, a left-wing journalist who did not vote for the president but appreciated his stance on the Iraq war, combines his investigations with Chirac's words to reveal the man behind the office.
