Synopsis of L'Inferno di Dante
En el verano de 1940, un joven de once años escuchó a su padre leer y explicar a sus hermanos mayores El Infierno de Dante; los dos veranos siguientes tocó el Purgatorio y el Paraíso. Medio siglo después, ese mismo joven, Vittorio Sermonti, leería y explicaría a Dante en los micrófonos de la radio y en más de quinientas lecturas públicas. Así nació este "relato-comentario" de la Divina Comedia, que se planteó un objetivo aparentemente modesto: "permitir a cualquier italiano dotado de cultura media, inteligencia y un poco de pasión recorrer el libro más grande escrito en italiano sin interrumpir continuamente la aventura para abastecerse de noticias, aclaraciones y variantes en los zócalos de notas, que a menudo rozan el techo de la página". Es un objetivo en realidad ambiciosísimo, y para alcanzarlo era necesaria la prosa a la vez refinada y coloquial, precisa e irónica de Sermonti. Supervisión de Gianfranco Contini.
