«Lion: Mijn lange weg naar huis» is the autobiography of Saroo Brierley, published by Boekerij in paperback (235 pages, in Dutch).
At age five, Saroo gets lost: he boards a train in India looking for his brother and ends up alone in Calcutta, not knowing where he comes from. Adopted by an Australian family, he grows up far from his origins; as an adult, with Google Earth and fragmentary memories, he tries to reconstruct the way back to locate his village.
Nominated for the Australian Book Industry Award in 2014; original in English «A Long Way Home» (2013). The movie «Lion», starring Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman and Rooney Mara, adapts this story.
For those interested in memoirs and true stories of overcoming, as well as for those who discovered the story through the movie «Lion».
