«Literatura universal» is the novel by Sabino Méndez, published by Editorial Anagrama in paperback (520 pages, in Spanish).
Cárdenas, Simón and Valls meet at a priests' school in late Francoism and share a rebelliousness fueled by books, rock and cinema. Between Barcelona, Madrid and the Balearic Islands, the written word marks their lives between ambition and the need to earn money. A generational parody that vindicates passionate reading.
It belongs to the Narrativas hispánicas collection, where it holds number 582, and its first edition was published in 2017.
For readers interested in contemporary Spanish narrative, rock culture and novels that dialogue with the classics.
