«L'Ocell Meravellós» is the children's story by Joaquim Carbó, published by Lynx Nature Books in paperback (48 pages, in Catalan).
A wonderful bird lives in a cage full of luxuries, but is not happy: it longs to be free and fly away. Through its story, the tale conveys that birds should not live caged and brings closer values such as friendship, respect and generosity. After the narrative, it includes a didactic section on birds of paradise.
It is part of the «Ales de paper» collection and was awarded the Premi Generalitat de Catalunya for best children's story 1981. Illustrated by Montserrat Ginesta Clavell and Àngels Jutglar Jutglar.
Recommended for children aged 7 to 10, especially for introducing reading in Catalan and values such as freedom and respect for animals.
