«L'ombra de l'eunuc» is the novel by Jaume Cabré, published by Columna in hardcover (453 pages, in Catalan).
During a dinner with Júlia, Miquel Gensana reviews his past: university, the anti-Franco struggle, unresolved vendettas and crimes, political violence, a family secret, and the role of art and music. The work weaves together a chronicle of the end of Francoism, the investigation of a lineage, a sentimental story, and an intrigue.
The novel won the Ciutat de Barcelona, Lletra d'Or and Crítica Serra d'Or awards, and has been translated into five languages.
A work for those seeking contemporary Catalan narrative with historical background, political memory, and a plot combining family saga and intrigue.
Jaume Cabré i Fabré is a Catalan philologist, novelist and screenwriter. He was one of the founders of the Catalan literary collective, Ofèlia Dracs.
