«Los amantes de Teruel» is the romantic drama by Juan Eugenio Hartzenbusch, published by Austral in paperback (160 pages, in Spanish).
It recreates the legend of Isabel de Segura and Diego de Marcilla in medieval Teruel: he goes off to war to amass a fortune and marry her, but returns a day late and finds her married to another. The play pits individual desire against social order, with a tragic ending marked by fate and revenge.
Originally published in 1837; number 5 in Austral's Clásica collection, within its Teatro series; edition by Ricardo Navas Ruiz.
