«Los años Sputnik» is the graphic novel by Baru in a complete edition, published by Astiberri in hardcover (208 pages, in Spanish).
In 1957, in the working-class town of Sainte Claire, children fight over the playground while racism, strikes and political struggles mark the neighborhood. Baru blends drama and comedy to portray the working-class districts of northern France, with neighborly solidarity as a counterpoint to the tensions.
Complete edition gathering the four volumes of the series «Les Années Spoutnik», originally published in France between 1999 and 2003.
For graphic novel readers interested in social realism and the history of the French working class in the 1950s.
Hervé Barulea, known as Baru, is a French comics author of Italian descent. His works deal mainly about the working class, particularly in the Italian immigrant community in Lorraine.
