The architecture treaty of Marco Vitruvio Polión is a fundamental work that systematically examines all the essential aspects for construction, from the selection of the place and the materials to the types of buildings, architectural orders, ornaments and machines. In addition, it includes astronomical and mathematical considerations, along with anecdotes and quotes from previous authors. Written at the time of Caesar, this treaty prepared the ground for the great construction programs of imperial Rome. This edition, with a prologue by Delfín Rodríguez Ruiz and translated by José Luis Oliver Domínguez, is enriched with engravings from the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
