«Los moradores de la noche» is the science fiction and mystery novel by Manuel Alfonseca, published by Anaya Infantil y Juvenil in paperback (136 pages, in Spanish).
Ignacio Charrán, a young journalist, travels to the Congo to interview Dr. Wickedwhole, a zoologist who hides part of her house-laboratory from him. At night, Ignacio glimpses a strange creature and, chasing it, loses consciousness; since then he only repeats two words: «¡El horror!». Months later, in London, the presentation of a discovery by the doctor triggers a mystery that calls into question the human condition and a chase that returns to Africa.
It belongs to the Espacio Abierto collection of young adult literature, number 152. The work was nominated in 2012 for the El Templo de las Mil Puertas Award for best independent national novel.
Manuel Alfonseca is a Spanish writer and university professor. He is the son of the painter and sculptor Manuel Alfonseca Santana.
