The lords of the earth, second volume of the chronicle of Widukind, tells the adventures of Widukind in the company of the Danes, with legendary characters such as Ragnar Lodbrok. In this sea voyage from Denmark to Iceland and Scotland, Widukind earns the trust of the Danes to attack the coasts of the Frankish kingdom, seeking an alliance of the pagan north against the Carolingian pressure. The novel also exposes the Saxon opposition to Charlemagne and the plan of the Germanic Council against the heretical threat of Remigio the Pious.
Arthur Balder is an American multidisciplinary artist, mostly known as sculptor, painter, filmmaker and writer.
