«Lost for Words» is John Humphrys's essay on the use and abuse of English, published by Hodder & Stoughton Ltd in hardcover (192 pages, in English).
John Humphrys denounces the misuse of English: empty clichés, incomprehensible jargon, dangling participles and verbless sentences. Politicians, executives, academics and journalists contribute to this degradation. With examples, Humphrys defends clear and honest language and warns against political manipulation through words.
First edition published on November 8, 2004. The cover includes the subtitle «The Mangling and Manipulating of the English Language» and a quote from Rod Liddle.
For those who want to understand how English is used and abused in politics and the media.
