«L'œuf de dragon» is the fantasy novella by George R. R. Martin, published by France Loisirs in paperback (174 pages, in French).
Ninety years before «Juego de Tronos», Aegon, a young man of royal blood nicknamed the Egg, travels incognito as squire to the hedge knight Dunk. Both are invited to a wedding tournament whose prize is a valuable dragon egg; the festivities hide, however, political intrigues and a conspiracy to depose the sovereign.
«L'œuf de dragon» is the third installment of «Tales of Dunk and Egg»; its original title is «The Mystery Knight». The work was nominated in 2011 for the Locus Award and the World Fantasy Award.
It is suitable reading for followers of «Juego de Tronos» and of epic fantasy who want to know what happened before the saga.
