«Madre gigante» is a children's story by Pello Añorga and illustrated by Jokin Mitxelena, published by Eusko Jaurlaritza (36 pages, paperback, in Spanish).
The story offers a reflection on human impact on the planet: people take elements from nature without stopping to measure the consequences and cause irreparable damage to the giant Mother Earth. The narrative wraps this ecological message in a storybook gaze, accompanied by illustrations of a large eye and small human figures.
Published on February 25, 2009, it is part of the children's and young adult catalog of Eusko Jaurlaritza-Gobierno Vasco.
A story for early readers and for sharing in the classroom, especially useful for raising ecological awareness.
