«Mafalda: Femenino Singular» is the humor comic by Quino that brings together Mafalda's feminist strips, published by Lumen in paperback (144 pages, in Spanish).
It collects the strips in which Mafalda, the rebellious girl created by Quino, questions the traditional role of women and defends curiosity, education and critical thinking against the destiny of housewife. Her irreverent gaze remains powerful today, connecting with the fight for gender equality. The volume includes cartoons about vocation, family and female freedom, with the author's characteristic acid humor and irony.
This volume belongs to the Lumen Gráfica collection. It was first published in 2018 and gathers, for the first time in a book, Mafalda's feminist strips.
Recommended for readers who want to rediscover Mafalda from a feminist perspective and for those who enjoy classic critical humor comics.
Joaquín Salvador Lavado Tejón, better known by his pen name Quino, was an Argentine cartoonist. His comic strip Mafalda is popular in many parts of the Americas and Europe and has been praised for its use of social satire as a commentary on real-life issues.
