«Mariana y los comanches» is the novel by Venezuelan writer Ednodio Quintero, published by Candaya SL in paperback (223 pages, in Spanish).
A writer desires a woman who eludes him on two levels: as a real person and as a character in his fiction. Rereading an old manuscript, he discovers a more genuine poetics than the one that made him famous and wonders whether recovering one requires sacrificing the other. The novel thus plays with the love triangle and the tension between life and creation.
With a prologue by Juan Villoro, this title inaugurates the Candaya Narrativa collection; its first edition appeared in May 2004.
For readers of contemporary fiction in Spanish, especially those seeking Venezuelan literature and stories about the craft of writing.
