«Mata y calla» is the novel by Spanish writer Andrés Bosch, published by Planeta in paperback (100 pages, in Spanish).
Set in a city of five million inhabitants with serious and complex problems, the story revolves around a senior official who, in secret, believes that exterminating the entire population would solve the difficulties and guarantee peace. A tale that shows, with black humor, the absurd side of a society in full transformation.
In some catalogs the work is cited as «Mata y calla (Arte de gobierno)»; the 1982 edition is listed as the second published by Planeta.
A read for those interested in twentieth-century Spanish narrative and social satire.
