«Maudits matchs» (Fooot !) is Patrick Bruno's youth football novel, published by Bayard Jeunesse in paperback (163 pages, in French).
Gio trains a new cadet team in Miraval when the Southeast league kicks off. Although they perform well in training, they fail in matches and drop to the bottom places. Gio relies on Gaby, the attacking midfielder, to turn things around, but Gaby must improve on the field and with girls: he still hasn't confessed his feelings to Virginie.
Maudits matchs was published in January 2010 and is part of the Bayard poche collection; the recommended reading age is 9 to 12 years.
Maudits matchs is for young readers who love football and team stories, with a protagonist who grows on and off the field.
