«Médico de cuerpos y almas» is the historical novel by Taylor Caldwell, published by Ediciones Martínez Roca in hardcover (448 pages, in Spanish).
It narrates the journey of Lucanus, a healer trained in the medical wisdom of Babylon and the Library of Alexandria, who during his trip from Rome to the Holy Land converts to Christianity and uses his art to alleviate the suffering of the humiliated under Roman imperial rule. The story identifies him with Saint Luke, the third evangelist, and contrasts his values with the cruelty of a decadent society.
This work belongs to the MR Novela Histórica collection by Ediciones Martínez Roca.
