Barcelona, 1851. This historical novel by Enric Calpena tells the story of young Joan Gort, who travels with his father to Barcelona. What promised to be a happy stay turns into tragedy during the night of San Juan. Joan's destiny changes forever, taking him from a decadent Barcelona to the desert of Morocco, where he enlists in the Volunteers of Catalonia. In this battalion, he must deal with General Prim and Commander Sugrañes, while fighting for victory and seeking to repair the events of that tragic night.
