«Memorial do Convento» is the historical novel by José Saramago, published by Porto Editora in 2014 in paperback (402 pages, in Portuguese).
Historical novel that reconstructs the Portugal of D. João V from the royal promise to build the Mafra convent. It follows Baltasar, a one-handed soldier, and Blimunda, a woman with powers, in a love watched over by the Inquisition, with a folk-tale tone and a critical portrait of the era.
