«Memorie di un soldato bambino» is the autobiographical testimony of Ishmael Beah, published by Neri Pozza in paperback (249 pages, in Italian).
In 1993, in Sierra Leone, young Ishmael Beah watches as the war between rebels and the army destroys his village and takes his family from him. Recruited by the army, drugged and trained to kill, he ends up becoming one of the conflict's child soldiers. His testimony recounts that experience and his slow road back to life.
Originally published in English as «A Long Way Gone» in 2007, with a translation into Italian by Luca Fusari. Winner of the ALA Alex Award in 2008.

Ishmael Beah is a Sierra Leonean author and human rights activist who rose to fame with his acclaimed memoir, A Long Way Gone. His novel Radiance of Tomorrow was published in January 2014. His most recent novel Little Family was published in April 2020.
