«Meurtre dans le pignadar» is the crime story by Robert Escarpit, published by Hachette in paperback (60 pages, in French).
Inspector Janin's first investigation takes place in an isolated inn: a corpse disappears and the case becomes a murder without a murderer or victim. The plot also poses a double enigma —what happened to the body and who committed the crime— in a short story.
In 1986 Hachette published this installment as number four of the «Policiers» collection.
For students of French and mystery fans looking for a brief read.
