«Milhões» is the children's and young adult novel by Frank Cottrell Boyce, published by Editorial Presença in 2004 (163 pages, in Portuguese).
After the death of their mother, Damian, his brother Anthony and their father move house and cope with grief in their own ways. Damian, fascinated by saints, tries to be good to feel close to her. When a bag of money falls from the sky, Damian believes it is a divine gift, but he must spend it in seventeen days during the transition to the euro.
Frank Cottrell Boyce was inspired by the film of the same name that he himself wrote; the work was originally published in English as «Millions» and won the Carnegie Medal.
A read for children and young adults that can also appeal to adults for its blend of humor and sensitivity.
Buck Colbert Franklin was an African American lawyer best known for defending survivors of the 1921 Tulsa race massacre.
