«Mitsou» is an illustrated book by Balthus and Rainer Maria Rilke, published by Relógio D'Água in 2002 in paperback, in a bilingual Portuguese-French edition.
The book brings together forty black-and-white drawings that Balthus made at the age of thirteen, with a preface by Rainer Maria Rilke. The cover shows a person seated at a table with a cat, in keeping with the stylized line and everyday atmosphere of the whole.
Rilke's text appears in French with a Portuguese translation; the book includes a commentary by August Stahl.
For readers interested in Balthus's graphic work and in the relationship between image and literature.
