The book 'Morir en África' by Luis Miguel Francisco narrates the epic of the Spanish soldiers in the Annual disaster. Through a detailed reconstruction of the daily life of the Spanish troops in Morocco, the author shows how and why the defeat of the Spanish army against the Rif troops of Abd el Krim occurred. This essay, based on unpublished documents, offers a disturbing and distressing vision of an event that plunged Spain into a mourning that still endures in the collective memory.
