«Movimiento perpetuo» is the book of short stories and essays by Augusto Monterroso, published by El Mundo/Bibliotex in hardcover (125 pages, in Spanish).
The book brings together short texts that oscillate between literary reflection, the essay and the short story. It opens with a quotation from Lope de Vega, and in the preface Monterroso presents the essay as a short story that can become a poem. Its ironic and elusive tone, where what is said matters as much as what is omitted, gives unity to the whole.
This 2001 edition belongs to the collection «Las 100 mejores novelas en castellano del siglo XX» from El Mundo/Bibliotex and includes a prologue by José Huerta. The original work appeared in 1972.
