«My California: Journeys by Great Writers» is the anthology edited by Donna Wares, in paperback (204 pages, in English), published by Angel City Press.
Twenty-seven Californian writers, including Michael Chabon, Thomas Steinbeck and Dana Gioia, contribute to this anthology of essays: a personal portrait of California, from its rivers and deserts to its cities and beaches. The authors donated their texts to support the California Arts Council, hit by the 2003 budget cuts.
Published in 2004, this is the first edition; it includes an introduction by Pico Iyer and the cover reproduces David Hockney's photomontage 'Pearblossom Hwy'.
For readers interested in literary essays and in discovering California through the voices of twenty-seven writers from the state.
