«Na Mala do Imigrante» is the short story collection by Lígia Pereira Boldori, published by Chiado Books in paperback (160 pages, in Portuguese).
Self-contained chapters follow an immigrant from packing the suitcase to a possible return. The narrative shows adaptation to another country and the clash with unknown words and expressions. The stories recreate uprootedness and the doubt of where home is, with a tone between comic and tragic.
The text includes a vocabulary at the foot with 202 explanations of foreign words, slang and local expressions. First edition published in 2015.
For readers interested in stories about migration, identity and cultural diversity, and in short narratives with lexical support.
