«Nada» is the novel by Carmen Laforet, published by Booket in paperback format (304 pages, in Spanish).
Andrea arrives in postwar Barcelona to study literature and moves into her grandmother's house, where a suffocating atmosphere of tensions and violent emotions reigns. The narrative contrasts that sordid family world, populated by strange and fascinating characters, with the fragile cordiality of her university relationships, centered on the luminous Ena. The clash between both worlds leads to a dramatic outcome that marks the young woman's search for identity.
Winner of the Nadal Prize in its first edition (1944). Includes a prologue by Najat El Hachmi.
