«Nationale 7» is a photographic work by Christian Louis with text by Pierre Drachline, published by Marval in paperback (79 pages, in French).
Christian Louis portrays the French Nationale 7 road towards the Mediterranean: weathered signs, abandoned vehicles and life on the roadside margins. Louis's gaze, free of clichéd nostalgia, shows the passage of time and the intimate disorder of people and places; black-and-white photographs with text by Pierre Drachline.
The work was published in 1988 and features photographic prefaces by Robert Doisneau and Willy Ronis.
For fans of documentary photography and French culture, with echoes of the congés payés and the route towards the Mediterranean.
