«Nem Pato, Nem Cisne» is the children's and young adult novel by Ana Saldanha, published by Caminho in paperback (112 pages, in Portuguese).
Eugénio is a red-haired, clumsy boy who feels he doesn't fit in with his dark-haired, elegant family; he sees himself as a «duck» among «swans». During a vacation in Ireland, invited by some friends of his mother, an experience in an estuary will make him discover that he is not a «duck out of water» and that his difference is his uniqueness.
The cover places it in the collection «Era Uma Vez... Outra Vez». Portugal's National Reading Plan recommended it for the 6th grade as independent reading.
