«New Orleans: Verhalen Van Ooggetuigen» is the testimony book compiled by Lola Vollen and Chris Ying, in paperback (333 pages, in Dutch).
The book brings together testimonies from survivors of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and documents how the catastrophe devastated neighborhoods, broke communities and left thousands of people homeless. The voices collected reflect the slowness of official aid, social inequality and the resilience of those who lost everything in 2005.
This Dutch edition was published by Lebowski in 2010 and belongs to the Voice of Witness series; its original title is 'Voices from the Storm'.
It is a book aimed at readers interested in recent US history and the social effects of natural disasters.
