«Nicky & Vera» is the historical picture book by Peter Sís, published by Gerstenberg Verlag in hardcover (64 pages, in German).
Nicholas Winton travels to Prague in late 1938 instead of going skiing and organizes the Kindertransporte, which take around seven hundred Jewish children to England. The book interweaves his story with that of Vera Gissing, one of those children, who had to leave her family behind. With poetic images, Peter Sís speaks of help, courage and humanity.
