A drama by Rafael Alberti that reflects his historical and social concerns, in a literary facet often overshadowed by his poetry. Set during the Spanish Civil War, it turns the Prado Museum into a stage for the defense of artistic heritage and functions as a chronicle of historical urgency.

For those interested in 20th-century Spanish theatre, Alberti's dramatic output, and the relationship between literature, politics, and cultural heritage.

Rafael Alberti Merello was a Spanish poet, a member of the Generation of '27. After the Spanish Civil War, he went into exile because of his Marxist beliefs. On his return to Spain after the death of Franco, Alberti was named Hijo Predilecto de Andalucía in 1983, and Doctor Honoris Causa by the Universidad de Cádiz in 1985.
