«Novelas ejemplares II» is the collection of short stories by Miguel de Cervantes, published by Ediciones Cátedra in paperback (400 pages, in Spanish).
The «Novelas ejemplares», published in 1613, are according to Cervantes himself the first example of the short story in Castilian literature. This volume brings together eight novels, including «El celoso extremeño», «La ilustre fregona» and «El coloquio de los perros», with stories that show the Italian heritage, psychological depth and social criticism characteristic of Cervantes.
Second volume of the «Novelas ejemplares» series in the Letras Hispánicas collection, edited by Harry Sieber. This text follows the princeps edition of Juan de la Cuesta and corrects its errata.
Aimed at secondary school students and those approaching the classics of Spanish literature.
