Ilse, eleven years old, lives with her mother and older siblings after her father's abandonment. Like the «November cats» that no one wants, the girl endures the neighbors' mockery and the contempt of her teachers, who think she is stupid. Little by little, Ilse manages to escape her isolation.
The work belongs to Beltz's Gulliver collection and was originally published in 1986; this edition dates from February 2000.
Young adult novel recommended for teenage and adult readers, especially for those who value realistic stories about personal growth and family.
